We're off to climb the Matterhorn
We set out in the morning
Wanted to climb the Matterhorn
Since I was just a boy
Doctor Heinrich Mendelssohn was lost among its peaks
By the time they rescued him, he'd starved for seven weeks
None among the mountaineers said he could survive
That is until they heard it was…the best time of his life
We're off to climb the Matterhorn
We set out on a journey
Each of us have fought too far
To give to fear or worry
Hugo Wendell ran one day from the city jail
And set off towards the mountain-top before there was a trail
For months he wandered in and out of the highest regions
He knew that in the end it was…his only chance of freedom
Colonel Koenig climbed above, the summit in his sights
Before that he could take his rest, the sky turned black as night
The winter was its worst and it brought about a blizzard
He jumped right off the mountain-side…and made it home by dinner
We're off to climb the Matterhorn
We set out in the morning
For those that make the mountain-top
Will reach another world
